Dolby Atmos Ecosystem (2015 - 2024)

Date Published

From 2020 - 2024, I worked on small teams developing features for Dolby Atmos to be adopted for music production. Now, the majority of billboard titles are mixed in Dolby Atmos.

Prior to 2020, my experience as a Broadcast systems and software engineer exposed me to the mechanisms of DD+ and AC-4 for Atmos distribution through the development and maintenance of a real-time A/V framework for encoding, decoding and transcoding written primarily in C and C++. This framework is used in everything from Televisions to Broadcast transcoder hardware and from Cinema Processors and tradeshow demo devices.

Upon expanding our pipelines into cloud-based environments, I migrated to work on the Dolby Atmos Music Panner Plugin in C++ and DSP effects for the Dolby Atmos Album Assembler. I went on to supporting many of its major backend features and frontend design implementation for versions 1.2 through 2.0 using C++ and Qt.
